Project overview
As Western Australia transitions to a cleaner, greener electric vehicle future, we’ve been building the supporting infrastructure to make electric vehicles and electric cars a reality in the regions.
We worked with Synergy and the State Government to build Australia’s longest connected EV highway, from Kununurra to Mindrabilla. EV drivers now have access to 110 EV charging points spread across 49 locations along major West Australian transport routes.
There's never been a better time to switch to an EV.

Electric cars have more access across Western Australia than ever before, supporting our transition to a cleaner, greener future.
We've worked with Synergy and the State Government to build Australia's longest connected EV highway - from Kununurra in the north to Esperance in the south and Mundrabilla in the east.
FAQs
We've finished building 110 charging points in 49 locations across Western Australia.
The EV charging network is made up of a combination of rapid, fast and slow chargers. Depending on the make and model of your vehicle, and the charger you’re using, you may only need to be plugged in for as little as 15 minutes to top up and get on your way.
WA EV Network Charging Fees
Here are the fees for using WA EV Network chargers. You’ll be able to pay via the Chargefox app or credit card. Chargefox terms and conditions apply

*Idle fee applies using DC charger. Once your vehicle is fully charged, a 10-minute grace period will apply. If you're using the Chargefox app you'll get a notification letting you know when your grace period begins.
An idle fee is an additional fee incurred by a driver when EV charging is complete and remains connected to a charging station.
The Chargefox app will notify drivers when their charge is nearly complete and again once fully charged at which time there is a grace period of 10 minutes to disconnect your vehicle.
For every additional minute, a car remains connected to the fast charger after it is fully charged and after the 10-minute grace period, an idle fee of $1 per minute will be incurred.
Arriving at a charging station to discover fully charged cars occupying bays is frustrating and can prevent people from reaching their destination.
Idle fees are being introduced on our WA EV Network DC fast chargers to:
- Maximise the availability of chargers and ensure as many people as possible can charge and get on their way.
- Discourage drivers from occupying chargers after charging has finished.
- Reduce barriers for more people to transition to an electric vehicle.
The EV charging station locations on the network were identified and selected by Synergy and Horizon Power in consultation with the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation. Consultation with local government in these areas may result in changes to the charging station locations, including the eight additional charging stations to be installed at four locations between Norseman and Eucla that will complete the link to South Australia that were recently announced.
